Passports

If you recall, it was recommended that you obtain a passport for our mission trip.  Although a passport is not required for entry into Canada or to return to the United States, it will be the most convenient form of identification.   Please check out the State Department's website for complete information on travel to Canada.  Another option is the US Passport Card.  This acts like a passport for ground and sea travel to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda (but not for air travel).  It is significantly cheaper than an actual passport.  A passport for someone 16 and over is $100, while the passport card is only $45.  The fees for someone 15 and under is $85 and $35 respectively.  It is something to seriously consider if you do not think you will be traveling outside the United States where you would require an actual passport.  If you do not get either a passport or a passport card, you will be required to bring your state-issued birth certificate or a copy.  Please check out the link above and make the wisest choice for your circumstances in consultation with your parents.
